General information:
A large tree which can reach height up to 45 m tall. Found on hillsides and ridges, but also on alluvial sites[2]
Distinguish botanical characteristics:
Leaf – alternate, simple, penni-veined, secondary veins inconspicuous, placed close together[2]
Fruit – 10 mm long, green-red, wind dispersed[2]
Flower – small buds, cream-yellow in colour with lanceolate petals [1]
Wood – yellow when freshly cut, sometimes light brown with a greenish or purplish cast, darkening on exposure to a golden or red-brown[3]
Uses:
Medicinal uses – None Wood – Timber and resin are used. Formerly an important producer of damar mata kuching[2]
