General information:
Medium-sized tree that can reach up to 37 meters tall; grows in lowland forest; Kelantan; Terengganu; Pahang; Selangor; Johor; Endemic [1] The plant is classified as ‘Critically Endangered’ in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2013)[2]
Distinguish botanical characteristics:
Leaf – lanceolate, 2.5-6 cm × 1.3-2.8 cm, leathery[3]
Fruit – Two-winged fruits, about 30 mm long, each with very small nuts[2].
Heart wood – yellow-brown to chocolate reddish-brown, with an occasional dark striping; it is not clearly demarcated from the 5 – 7cm wide band of light yellow-brown sapwood[4]
Uses:
Medicinal uses – none known
The tree produces an oleoresin [4]
Wood – traded as merawan timber, the bark is used for walls and partitions of traditional houses[1]

Leaves – alkaloids, flavonoids, reducing sugar, saponins, tannins, terpenoids[2]
