General information:
A large tree with bluish-grey crown. Its buttresses are usually short and stout. It is native to Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand[1]
Distinguish botanical characteristics:

Leaf – ovate, lanceolate[1]
Fruit – Nut oblong and pointed, about 12 x 9 mm, and winged[2]
Heart wood – pink-brown to dark red or purplish brown, with white resin streaks2]

Uses:
Medicinal uses – none known Wood – an important and valued source of timber know as ‘dark red meranti [2]
Major/bioactive phytochemicals:
Saponins, possess moderate antiviral activity, toxicity to shrimp >1000 mg/ml, Cytotoxicity (Vero) CTC50 (mg/L) 946.40[3]
